The AUBG America for Bulgaria Student Center, named after the foundation which donated $8 million for the construction, will open for the 2013 Spring semester. “The construction is going ahead of time,” Dean of Student Lydia Krise said.

The building will have all its installations ready and furniture moved in by then, Krise added. According to the construction plan, the center will house a gym, performing arts halls, canteens, a bookstore, and, possibly, offices for the student clubs.

The construction work takes place between the BAC and Kaufland, where the games of the American Football Club Griffins were held before. “We were almost sure that the construction ... will interfere with our field," said senior Apostol Apostolov, Griffins member. Until the Student Center is ready, the games will be held at the Bachinovo baseball field. However, Apostolov added that the new field is more convenient, as Griffin members do not have to maintain it by themselves, as they did with the terrain next to BAC. Krise said that once the building is complete, it will include a suitable place for the American football games.
