Dear Students,*

I would like to address this article towards you - the readers, who I am afraid might have heard false, extremely disrespectful, and offending gossips and statements circling around our campus and directed towards the candidates for SG president and studdent representative.

Those statements concern the failed amendment proposal and claim that I have defended the position of the student representative to the BOT for personal aims.  Furthermore, they are based on false quotation, claiming things that I have never said connected to the judiciary proposal for the SG and my intentions to run for the student representative position. That is why I would like to go on and address those issue and make my intentions clear.  

During the debates on the referendum proposal two months ago, I was asked whether I plan to run for a student representative. According to the rules of the debates, any questions that were personal or provocative were to be blocked. Jaba Shalamberidze, who was facilitating the debate, considered that question inappropriate and blocked it. However, I went on and answered because I had no plans to apply for any SG positions whatsoever. All I cared at that moment was to communicate to the students present in the auditorium the value and importance of the student representative position. If I was planning to run for it two months ago, I think I would have gone on without answering the question. I had no personal intentions involved in what I was defending. The referendum proposal failed not due to the fact that I convinced less than 40 people present during the debates that I am not against the proposal because of personal interests, but because 161 people casted their votes against it. I presume those 161 people also saw the value of the position and did not agree with the amendment proposal. I am sure more than half of them did not attend the debates but voted according to their own opinion.

I decided to apply for the position of student representative two days before the deadline. I was approached and asked by students whether I plan to run for president again. My answer was negative, explaining my reasons why I am not going to run again. However, many asked me why I don’t apply for a student representative instead since I would be a good candidate and will be able to do a good job, having the experience with SG behind my back. As a result, I re-evaluated my qualities and intentions and decided to apply. I believe there are enough intelligent and critical people, who will vote and decide who will be elected between the two candidates based on their own perception, disregarding any gossips and false accusations.
